Independent data, updated daily

Power to Choose,
for business

The state's Power to Choose site is residential only. There is no official place to compare commercial electricity rates in Texas. So we built one: transparent, aggregate commercial rate data by territory and by provider, free to compare.

There is no Power to Choose for business

Power to Choose, run by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, only lists residential plans. The minute a business owner searches for a commercial rate, the experience falls apart.

Residential only

The state comparison site stops at the home. Commercial rates live on provider websites, third-party aggregators, and EFL PDFs, with no single place to look.

Scattered and quote-gated

Most commercial rates sit behind a contact form or a broker call. You hand over your number before you ever see a price, and you rarely see what else was on the table.

Apples to oranges

One quote shows the energy charge only. The next bundles TDU delivery. A third buries a base fee in a footnote. Without a normalized view, the lowest rate is whoever presented last.

No public benchmark

Without a published reference band, a business owner has no way to tell whether a quoted commercial rate is competitive or simply convenient for the broker offering it.

What we publish instead

We are an independent data authority, not a broker and not a retail electricity provider. We collect the commercial rates providers publish, normalize them to one schema, and refresh the data daily. Then we publish the aggregate, free to compare.

Common questions

Is there a Power to Choose for businesses?

No. The state-run Power to Choose site lists residential plans only. There is no official comparison site for commercial electricity in Texas, which is why business rates are scattered across provider websites, broker funnels, and EFL PDFs. We close that gap by publishing aggregate commercial rate data by TDU territory and by provider, free to compare.

How do I compare commercial electricity rates in Texas?

Start with your TDU territory (Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP Texas, or TNMP), then look at the published rate band for that territory and the providers serving it. We normalize published commercial rates into low, median, and high cents per kWh by territory and by provider, so you can see where a quote sits before a broker frames the conversation.

Is Texas Commercial Plans a broker?

No. We are an independent data authority, not a broker or a retail electricity provider. We do not sell electricity, take a commission, or steer you to a preferred provider. We publish the aggregate data and let you decide who to call.

Where does the commercial rate data come from?

From the rates providers publish online. We collect published commercial plans across the Texas TDU territories, normalize them to one schema, and refresh the data daily. The free pages show aggregate bands and ranges. Exact per-plan rates, contract terms, and pricing history are in the downloadable dataset.
